GoNoGo privacy policy

Effective 19 October 2026

GoNoGo processes your check-ins and Apple Health readings on your iPhone. It has no account, advertising or third-party analytics, and does not send your health readings, answers, private notes or calendars to a GoNoGo server. Sharing an export, contacting support and joining the beta are your choices.

Who is responsible

GoNoGo is made by Paul Calver, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom. For privacy questions or requests, email paul@paulcalver.com.

Apple Health

With your permission, GoNoGo reads sleep records, heart rate, resting heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV), together with workouts and mindful sessions. Available HRV types depend on your iOS version and data source. Workouts and mindful sessions provide context so the app can avoid treating readings affected by exercise or breathing as ordinary resting readings.

GoNoGo uses eligible readings and your own usual values alongside your check-in answers to support reflection and preparation. Imported readings, source information, baselines and related calculation records are stored locally. GoNoGo requests read access only and does not write records to Apple Health.

Health data is not used for advertising, marketing, data brokerage or third-party analytics, and is not sold. You can decline Health access and still check in using your answers. You can change permissions in the Health app. Revoking access stops future reads of the affected data; it does not automatically delete previously imported copies.

Check-ins, preparation and private notes

The app keeps information you choose to enter, including your optional first name, answers, ratings, saved plans, private notes, preparation choices and follow-up responses, on your device. Saved checks can include their advice, conversation and the health readings used, so you can revisit or export the original check. The app also keeps local settings and diagnostic information needed to import readings and maintain saved history.

GoNoGo does not operate its own cloud account or history-sync service. Its health-import and readiness-history stores are marked to be excluded from device backups. Other app data, such as preferences or preparation records, may be included in normal device backups, depending on your Apple settings. Apple’s Health storage and sync settings apply separately to the original records in Apple Health.

Optional calendar reminders

If you enable reminders before events, GoNoGo asks for notification permission and full calendar access. It reads events in the calendars you select on your iPhone. Event times, titles and whether other people are invited help it choose when to remind you and suggest the kind of check-in. The event name can be shown inside the app when you open a reminder.

Calendar details are not uploaded to a GoNoGo service. Reminder notifications show a time rather than the event name. Local reminder records contain event references, timing and reminder preferences; event titles and invitees are not saved with your checks. You can change the selected calendars, turn reminders off in GoNoGo or revoke permissions in iPhone Settings. Calendars may already sync through iCloud, Google, Exchange or another provider under that provider’s own privacy practices.

Speech and audio

Optional spoken guidance uses your iPhone’s speech synthesis and app audio. GoNoGo does not record your voice or request microphone access. You can turn spoken guidance off in the app’s Settings.

Exports and sharing

Exporting a check creates a file that can include your answers, advice, health readings and technical calculation details. Private saved notes are excluded. An optional health-import log contains import timing and status information rather than individual readings or device identifiers.

Neither file is sent automatically. If you share one, you choose the destination using the system share sheet. The receiving app or service’s privacy practices apply to that copy. Review files before sharing them, particularly if they contain health information.

Support, this website and beta signup

If you email support, I receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. I use them to reply and investigate your request. Avoid including health records, private notes or other people’s information unless needed for the question you want help with. Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the request and any related follow-up or legal obligation. You can contact me about deleting it.

These pages are hosted through Cloudflare, which processes network information to deliver and secure the website. Opening external research or help links takes you to services with their own privacy practices. The optional beta signup opens Google Forms; information you submit there is used to organise testing, early access and GoNoGo launch updates. It is separate from your on-device check-ins. You can ask to leave the beta contact list by email. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy, Google’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

Local readings and history remain available while stored by the app. In Settings, open Recent checks to delete individual checks or use Delete all checks and notes. This removes the selected saved history; it does not clear every imported health record, reset every preference or delete original Apple Health records. Reset and import today replaces today’s local imported readings by reading Apple Health again.

Deleting the app removes its local app data; offloading the app preserves documents and data. Neither action deletes original Apple Health records, calendar events, existing backups, support correspondence or files you have already exported. Manage those copies through the relevant app, service or backup settings. I cannot remotely retrieve or erase the check-ins stored only on your iPhone.

Your choices and rights

You control Health and calendar permissions, reminders, local history and exports. Information you choose to send for support or beta access is processed to handle your request and run the service; security and necessary support records may also be kept for legitimate interests or legal obligations. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it.

Depending on your location and circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, or receive a portable copy of personal information. Email paul@paulcalver.com to make a request. Please provide enough information to locate correspondence or a signup without sending health records unnecessarily. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data-protection authority.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated if GoNoGo’s data practices change, with the effective date shown above. For help using the app, visit GoNoGo support.

Website measurement

I count clicks on download links for my apps to understand which pages help people find the app. Each event contains only a fixed campaign name; Cloudflare adds the event time. This counter sets no cookies and stores no IP address, referrer, device identifier or personal content. Counts are best effort and may be sampled. They are not unique people or installs. The browser’s Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable these click events. Cloudflare also processes requests to host and protect this website. Separate Cloudflare Web Analytics excludes EU visitors. Cloudflare privacy information.
