• Find your tide window. Choose a beach walk, swim, paddle launch, rockpooling or shore fishing, or create your own activity. Adjust the tide rule for your place and see whether its window is open now or when it opens next.
• Plan around your day. Find matching windows across seven days, based on the hours you are free. Check the tide chart and upcoming high and low tides to see the prediction behind your plan.
• Compare your coastal spots. Save your regular places and see their tide windows at a glance.
• Keep the next tide close. Use widgets, Lock Screen Live Activities, Apple Watch complications, Siri and alerts to keep useful tide information within reach.

The best part of a coastal day is rarely the data. Tide Moments keeps your photo, place and the tide and available sea conditions saved at the time together in a private memory library on your device.

Take a photo or choose one you already have. Look back at beach walks, swims and paddles, with the date and any saved tide details alongside the memory. If historical tide details are missing, GoodTides says so.

Why I built it

I live on the coast and I kept doing the same sum in my head. Squinting at a tide table, converting times, guessing whether the water would be far enough out by the time I got there. It's a small, repetitive problem, and small repetitive problems are what software is for. GoodTides started as an app for me, and it stayed honest because I'm the person who gets it wrong if it lies.

Know what the prediction means

Check the data source, freshness, prediction point and chart datum in the app. Cached forecasts and offline estimates are clearly labelled. Sea and weather conditions stay separate from the tide prediction.

GoodTides is for recreation and planning. It is not a navigation instrument and must not be used to judge the safety of a tidal crossing, causeway or other safety-critical situation. Weather, surge and local conditions can change actual water levels. Use official sources and local safety advice.

Data sources

Tide predictions come from WorldTides. Open-Meteo supplies marine conditions and fallback weather. Apple Weather supplies weather information when available. The app keeps the sources, freshness and availability of these forecasts distinct.
